Djaka has a keen interest in community development and positive community impact. In her past experience, Djaka was instrumental in supporting non-profit organizations build their organizational capacity through intentioned advice and targeted activities, and played a key role in the monitoring and evaluation of funded projects using an outcomes-based measurement approach. She played an important convening role in the community and among organizations to build strategic relationships among various stakeholders.
Djaka has experience working with diverse ethno-cultural/racial communities, representatives of voluntary organizations, businesses and government agencies in the areas of community and social development. In her most recent position as a Multiculturalism Program Officer with Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Djaka supported not-for-profit organizations in the development of proposals using performance frameworks and logic models. She also helped to link non-profit organizations to municipal, federal, and other sources of funding.
Her personal and professional experiences have been closely tied to community development initiatives. Through her volunteer work with organizations such as Making Changes Employment Association, Calgary WomenÕs Emergency Shelter, and the African Caribbean Calgary Coalition she was involved in community mobilization, event management and event communications. Djaka holds a BA degree in Communication Studies from the University of Calgary and a Minor in Management from the Haskayne School of Business.
